How to wear a tulle skirt without looking like a ballerina

Tulle skirt without looking like a ballerina

Ever since Carrie Bradshaw flounced onto our screens in a tulle skirt, I fell head over heels in loved them. There is something so feminine about the layers of tulle and the nipped in waste, that you immediately feel like a princess, but for a while, I was scared to wear one in case I looked like a ballerina.

Top tips to wear a tulle skirt without looking like a ballerina.

  1. Go full length or midi length so that you don’t look like you are wearing a tutu. It will make the outfit look more sophisticated and stylish.
  2. Wear your tulle skirt with a more formal top such as a jacket to create a more grown-up look or try a jumper to make it more casual.
  3. Avoid dressing fully in pastel pink. Add some bold bright colours like I have with hot pink and green shoes, or follow Carrie and go for muted greens.
  4. Have fun it with. A tulle skirt is very feminine so why not embrace that and enjoy feeling dressed up and swishy (technical term there).

I love tulle skirts just as you are. I have a mid-length tulle that I pair with a formal top and high heels. Always looks great!

Your outfit is lovely and I can see how the length of the skirt is so important to achieve a sophisticated look. Your jacket and shoes really top off the look beautifully.

I love this style and you really can carry it off. I have always wanted to wear one but been worried that I may look like a ballerina. Would love one for Christmas parties.

You look so prim and proper in that outfit. I also love wearing a tulle skirt! It makes me feel like a princess!

I’m not sure if being prim and proper is a good or bad thing, but I definitely like feeling like a princess!
