The Living Room Edit

November 23, 2018

I recently found this old picture of our sitting room before we moved in and it made me realise that whilst there are always things I want to change (I’d love a corner sofa for instance), we’ve come a long way. So here are a few bits and pieces I love from our living room.

Old to new, left to right.

I’m a big fan of natural wood, simple white colours and anything with animals on it. I’m naturally messy and struggle to keep things tidy so tend to keep spaces pretty minimal to avoid clutter, with a few key features.

Our walls are painted in Farrow and Ball Strong White which is slightly grey depending on the light and I love. If I was repainting I would pick the same colour again.

I love the Zebra print as it’s just a bit of fun and you see it as you walk into the kitchen living room. The console table is our old dining room table that had fold down sides which we didn’t want to bin when we got our bigger table.

LSA vase

Fake roses and eyaclupus leaves (from a local shop but these guys do great ones. OKA)

The fireplace we sadly can’t use but still try to make this a cosy feature with candles. When we redid the flat we removed the old blue titles as they were quite dates and replaced these with the white marble effect. The red sticks are from a friends garden and apparently stay red all winter.

Vase – Oliver Bonas

Candles – I buy from all over but love Jo Malone especially.

Lantern – from a little local shop, but this is very similar.

Fish ottoman coffee table I made myself from upcycling a pallet (I will do a separate post on this if anyone is interested)

I put my books in colour order in a vague attempt to make them look tidy The boat picture in the sitting room is a print from a local artist we like called Jonny Midnight from when he was in St Lucia. The curtains and throws are from ikea.

The table is reclaimed wood off Etsy and then we chose the colours for our legs. The chairs are from the same company but a slightly different colour of wood so I am considering painting them dark blue to add some contrast or the same as the table legs.

The oil painting is from my Granny’s house and the other is homemade from cut out abstract cards in a habitat frame – a super cheap bit of modern art. I find habitat is really good for frames (and plates).

The lamp is a sold out Homebase one but a similar one can be found here or I love this metallic one. from wayfair.

And that’s our living room dining room which is the room we spend most time in in the house. Which room in the house do you live in? Any thoughts of bits we should change?

Ooh I love the ottoman! The fireplace looks fab. The sticks make it for me but maybe that’s because we have always had sticks in the house…

I agree with your love of stick, I have sprayed silver ones in the bedroom too!

I love natural wood as well and I love the white. I think the white makes the rooms look bigger and they have more space. And I love to have more space 🙂

Completely agree, I just wish I could afford to kit everything out from the white company!

It looks fabulous, I love your table, a new table is on my house wish-list at the moment and I am so jealous at how tidy your house is!

I did tidy to take pics… I’m definitely not a naturally tidy person!

You have an absolutely gorgeous living room. At the mo ours is just a dumping ground as we’re living in temporary rented accommodation while our own house gets all the botched jobs from the previous owners fixed!!
